JULY 20TH, 12-6 PM, 61ST & ADELINE
Join us for a celebration of community, legacy, and collective healing as we honor the elders who have laid the foundation for our present and future. This special gathering also marks the birthday of our beloved founder, Aunti Frances Moore, whose visionary leadership and unwavering dedication have nurtured generations. The event will radiate warmth, offering a space of love, joy, and deep respect, where stories are shared, connections are strengthened, and the wisdom of our elders is uplifted.
Live performances will fill the air with soulful rhythms and uplifting energy, featuring the dynamic sounds of Atmospheric Funk, Scary Jazz, MC Nate Dog, Soul Good Music, DJ Ball D, Jameelah, Eseibio the Automatic, and KWIC. A delicious free meal will be provided, fostering a sense of togetherness as attendees gather to nourish both body and spirit. Healing will be at the forefront, with touch therapy, trauma relief resources, and wellness services available to support the community. Inspiring speakers will share insights, sparking meaningful dialogue and strengthening bonds among neighbors.
This free, all-ages gathering invites families to bring their elders, celebrate their contributions, and honor the roots that ground us. Join us in creating a day of gratitude, connection, and joyful remembrance as we pay tribute to those who have shaped our journey and celebrate the enduring light of Aunti Frances Moore.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the community partners and sponsors who have made this event possible: CBCB, Black Panther Alumni, Black Men Speak, TranquilityRx, POOR Magazine, and the Massage Therapy Foundation.

Everyday is Black History montH
"Everyday is Black History Month" is a series of events organized by the Self Help Hunger Program at Jasper P. Driver Plaza in North Oakland. This iteration commemorates the delayed emancipation of Black Americans from slavery in the state of Texas (In 1865, the Texas Governor "failed" to enforce the emancipation proclamation for 3 years after it took effect).
This event celebrates Black culture beyond the month of February by promoting Black artists, vendors and by providing the community access to resources offered by local nonprofits and social justice activists.
Following the legacy of the Black Panther Party, "Aunti" Frances Moore, the visionary of the Self Help Hunger Program, sees unity through food justice. “We don’t just feed the homeless, we feed the Hungry''. This is our motto, along with the 10 Point Program Platform of the BPP that has guided and has been enforced for over 15 years of serving the people.
